The Weather

P. kept telling me that the weather here is amazing, perfect, can't be beat. And for the most part, he is right. BUT - for a girl who grew up in Florida... where is the humidity? The weather man on the news said that the humidity level would be in the teens for single digits. WHAT? Can we live with such little humidity, surely we will dry out.

And now the Santa Ana winds are blowing. They whip trough here too. The skinny tree next to my house looks like its practicing downward facing dog. Our little area of SoCal we have had gust up to 45 mph. Feels like a tropical storm is nearby, but no rain, and no clouds.

The wind whipped through all night and this morning, and now the news is reporting fires in an adjacent county to ours.  The weather may be beautiful, but it certainly isn't familiar.

What a September!!!

"summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends"

What a roller coaster we have been on...
Let me think where did I leave off, right - we were in Denmark.
So as we were enjoying our trip together (the last business man trip), P. working, me wandering the city, fun eats, amazing clothes to pretend to afford, us together enjoying the evenings and a great little voyage to the Louisiana art museum... then the phone calls began. Precisely then, the first call was while we were on the train back from the museum.

There was a buyer interested in the house. This was not our first offer, but this guy seemed pretty serious - he wanted to buy in cash and as is.  I'll spare the financial details, because in retrospect we could not have been luckier to sell (we certainly did not know that the nation's economic status was about to skydive).  But this guy wanted the house - and fast, he wanted to close in 2 weeks!  He did toy with us a little but it sold. P. only got to see the house for 24 more  hours between coming home from Denmark and taking off to Cali. (he is such a jet setter).

A week later the moving vans can and then that was it - the house was empty.
Well now what do we do? All of our worldly possessions were on a truck headed to storage. P. was in corporate housing and I was homeless (well not entirely - thanks E. and E.).  We thought it would be best to split up the dogs. P. took Blue and Copper stayed with me. The boys thought all one on one the attention was super fantastic. But
still where do we go next...

About two weeks later we found a house to rent - the internet is great because I was able to see it online, and map the location while P. checked it out in real life. The rental process in

California was as detailed as buying a house - we even had to submit paperwork on the dogs. Fortunately the owners were fond of us. And while getting dressed for M. and J.'s wedding the phone rang one last time. By the next week, we have a new nest!

Left, Left, Left, Right, Left

So one morning, while P. was working I went out to wander around...while walking down one of the streets in the city center, I heard a band playing and found myself in a parade.

I decided that I would follow the parade and see where they were headed. So we walked and walked, and all the time the band played on. Finally we were at the queen's castle where there were lots of other onlookers waiting to see the procession. It them came to mind that this was going to be the changing of the guard. It was all very proper and v. musical.

Smushi!

my favorite meal was smushi in the little cafe snug between the royal copenhagen and georg jensen.

smushi is like a modern tea sandwich fit for a princess, served on r.c. china with jensen silverware. it was an afternoon of super delicious delight!

Goodbye Copenhagen...

The trip flew by, and now P. is packing up his suitcase to jet back across the Atlantic for the last time.

Kong P.

We made it! It seemed like a million airplane rides - but really only three. The layover is Paris was fantastic, a quick trip to see the Tour Eiffel, breakfast and cafe au lait at a little street side cafe... well would have, but we really had only a few hours - a girl can dream, and thats actually just what I did as I slept on P.'s shoulder for 2 hours since I didn't sleep well on the 8 hour flight over, flying with a cold is uber pathetic. So since I slept instead of enjoying the apple tart and orangina that P. found for us to snack on - I was famished by the time lunch arrived on the Air France flight. I can't explain it - but it was amazingly good! A piece of president camembert, a mini tomato quiche with fresh spinach, some multi-seed bread and sparkle water. With a dessert of chocolate mousse cake. YUM.

Once in Kobenhavn we headed directly to our hotel the Kong Arthur.

Our room is quite modern, although the hotel buildings themselves date back to 1882 as a home for traveling apprentices.

Recently the hotel joined a Danish alliance of CO2 Neutral Hotels.

We have a nice window and with the windows open you hear the subtle sounds of the courtyard below. Then, after a nice nap we set out to dinner.

P. knows his was around really well - after all he has been frequenting the city for years. We hoppen on the S train and after a short walk past the planetarium and some theaters, we were at the Le Le Cafe for delicious Vietnamese. We ate soutside wraped in blankets. And nothing could have been better than soup and this place had soup that was overloaded with flavor with every spoonful I tasted something new and fresh.

Last Trip

For the past few years P. has been traveling to Europe for work. Today he embarks on his last trip before the big move. And this time I am joining him for the first week. So we are off to Copenhagen by way of Paris. Sadly our layover in Paris won't be long enough for us to leave the the airport, but just knowing that I am in my most favorite city excites and delights me!

While we are overseas we will continue posting - so Denmark here we come one last time...
